Gardenia Jasminoides Radicans

Gardenia jasminoides Radicans is a low-growing and spreading evergreen shrub known for its fragrant flowers and glossy green foliage. Commonly referred to as Creeping Gardenia, this cultivar is sought after for its compact size and versatile low growth habit. The dark green leaves are glossy and oval-shaped, providing an attractive backdrop to the flowers. In summer, it produces highly fragrant, creamy-white blossoms that contrast beautifully against the foliage. Gardenia Radicans is a popular choice for groundcover, borders, rock gardens, or as a trailing plant in containers. It prefers well-drained soil and thrives in partial shade to full sun, though it may benefit from some protection in hot climates. Also available in a variegated form with green foliage splashed with lime and yellow. Grows to approx. 30-60cm H x 90-120cm W.

Although it prefers full sun, some shade is appreciated during the warmer months of the year or its leaves may scorch and its buds may fall off if they get too much sunlight. In hot climates, Gardenias grow best with morning sun and afternoon shade. In cooler areas, they can tolerate full sun, especially if their roots are covered with organic mulch.
